SALTWATER vs. FRESHWATER

Is there a difference in the Mercury and Yamaha Saltwater series and freshwater series motors. The dealer is telling me the only difference is the pickup and paint.

First word of Advice : Run from this dealer!<br />He's just trying to unload his excess product and doesn't care about you.<br /><br />There are differences between the Fresh/Salt series, mainly more Zinc and stainless steel parts. The freshwater are not designed to "live" in salt. Although a freshwater series engine if perfectly happy as long as you are a weekend boater and thoroughly flush it every time you use it. <br /><br />Nav.
