SALTWATER UNDER THE MOTOR COVER

My 96 60 hp Bigfoot is getting saltwater under the motor cover, it is coming up the shift shaft at full throttle, is there a way to keep it water tight??? Any suggestions would be appreciated..

Hello,<br />are you sure it's coming from there and not from a cooling-tube??<br /><br />I think, there should be something(bearing) to shut it off.<br />It's located at bottom of the shaft(guess).<br />You can look there if it's still oké.<br /><br />Gtzzz <br /><br />Tirett<br />Belgium

Hey Flounderhook It won't help your problem but spray the entire enigne with Fliud Film it will help protect your engine from the effects of the salt water it is safe to spray on everything. Of course track down you problem I have resprayed under my cowling every second year for 10 years and it looks like brand new and I have only been in the salt water Good luck on the repair
