I have spent the last few days trying to find reviews on SW spinning reels with little luck. I have narrowed the field to 3 potential ones I like. I will be fishing for tuna, mahi, grouper and anything else that will create a tight line in Islamorada. If given the choice which of these make/models would you suggest
Okuma CD90
Penn SS (not sure which model is best for my needs)
Daiwa Emblem XT series
Also if you can reccomend a good rod.
TIA,
BB

I use a Penn 8500ss, 30lb line for tuna/mahi, works well.

Penn's are always good for salt water. Have used them for years with good results. Don't overlook Shimano's either. I've had a light saltwater outfit for 4 years now and it's the smoothest reel I've ever used. No signs of corrosion yet and it's still as smooth as ever.

Since your going to Islamorada try giving Bud N Marys a call or e-mail and ask them about the spinning gear. They should be able to get ya started. I use the 850-950 penns on my boat for striped bass fishing.
I fished out of there 2 years ago. Did some fly fishing. You can rent a 20-22'boat for 200bucks a day.I wouldn't reccomend staying there if you are taking a women uless she loves to fish. Bud N Marys is difinitly a fishing motel.
Contact www.budnmarys.com
