I made the mistake of keeping my boat in saltwater to long! Any suggestions on how to get the growth off the bottom. Tried pressure washer, soap, in the lake for 4 hours nothing seems to work. Some came off, but still has grimmy stuff on it.
Thanks in Advance,
Michael
PS: Or is this one of those elbow grease and scraper deals.

Re: Salt Water

Marti501,

What type of growth exactly are you talking about? If it's just a case of topwater bilge slime, them a little elbow grease should be able to remove it. If barnacles have already attached, then its time to yank her out of the water and go at it with a scraper, followed by a good coat of bottom paint. If its not too bad, then you may be able to scrape it off without damaging the finish on the hull. Anyways, it sounds like you got a good weekend job on your hands. :(

Nav

I would say it's time for a good quality bottom cleaner. Star Brite hull cleaner, Davis FSR or Mary Kate On & Off are all very good products. Be sure to read and follow the directions.

A Home Depot plastic putty knife taped on the end of a broom handle should do the trick.

Also I have heard boratic acid that you can buy at a local hardware store.

Just scrape and pressure wash.
