In previous discussions, several people use it and think it does some good but who's to know. others suggested some house hold items like soap IIRC to accomplish the same results.
I think that if you're going to get the salt/corrosion out, it will be with fresh water. Consider, though, that every time you stop your engine, say for a picnic or overnight, the residual salt water dries against the hot metal parts. whether running or flushing, your next restart isn't going to scrub off the dried surface but so much. So flushing at the ramp after a weekend in the salt water can only do but so much for the residue. it does, however, clear out the most recent salt water and replace it with fresh in little nooks and crannies--the engine drains naturally.
True, a fresh water motor or a regularly flushed salt motor will look better inside when its 15 or 20 years old. I'd be more concerned about the external parts.
Flushing engines is a relatively new practice. People have and still do run motors in salt water for years without flushing. One of mine, for example, is moored with no fresh water source so it only gets flushed a few times a year. Another I flush after a few days in sea water and sand/mud when I pull it up but not every day. Makes me feel better. Can't say how much difference it makes on the 23 year old motor.
