Salt-away usage for winterizing

I read in a " Sticky" that salt-away should be used to flush your system when getting your boat ready for winter. I picked some up but it doesn't state if you can leave it in your system for an extended period. I plan to store my boat in a heated storage so the need of antifreeze is not required. Can I flush with salt away and store the boat till spring or should I rinse out the product before storage? Oils will be changed out as well as fogged.

Anyone have an answer before I contact the company?

No, it's not antifreeze, it's just for flushing and neutralizing any salt out that just normal flushing will miss.
It does not coat anything or prevent freezing.

Thanks Don S,
So would you advise flushing with salt-away then water again or leave the salt-away till spring? The instructions tell you to use approx 4 oz in the provided container, flush till foam from the product comes out the exhaust. I guess my question would be can I leave it in the system till spring or should I flush again to remove the salt away?
I don't intend to use antifreeze only because it's stored in a heated building.
Thoughts?

If freezing is not a concern, you always want to leave the salt away products in the block. Salt gets into the pores of the block so leaving it in will further neutralize it.

If you live where it freezes, you need to drain it. Salt Away is like adding a little soap to the water. Does nothing to prevent freezing. It's only to be used for flushing.
It helps a lot on raw water cooled engines that are used in salt or brackish water to help flush the salt out of the engine. It does NOTHING for freeze protection.

freezing aside, there have been a number reports that leaving salt away in the engine can actually increase corrosion dramatically over time. In terms of flushing with something to clean it out the engine builder I use recommends using a little dawn dishsoap instead.

From a scientific standpoint I looked into the active ingredients in salt away and it is very plausable that it could dramatically increase ion transport and amplify galvanic corrosion if left in the engine in any significant concentration.
