so gunna go to lake ontario for first time this weekend fishing for trout and salmon and curious if lures like in this link http://ca.images.search.yahoo.com/i...b=13inan2qb&sigi=11orrgdp4&.crumb=G0EVxQNyI3Z
work??

i have though about taking one and cutting the spinners off of them and trying to rig something up to give the actual body of the bait a really tight action instead of just slicing throught the water sitting still. any thought?

The lake michigan salmon like things that look more like what they eat. Alewives, smelt, etc. I wouldn't have much luck with that bait down here.

Save those for the bass. Buy yourself some spoons.

Out here in BC, on the lakes at this time of year they start hitting on willow leafs, speckled flat fish, or drag a fly.
In fall when they start spawning wedding ring, orange and white spoons/flat fish, anything that has roe on it gets them excited I found.

all I have is old school lures, I will have to try some of the new ones some day.

Buy some salmon spoons. They are not pricey and are really needed. As stated save the spinnerbait for bass.

I've seen people do well with the Rattlin' Raps and Rattle Traps on lake O for trout, and they're just too easy to troll. No line twist and they run straight and true everytime... and they look just like an alewife. I believe chrome with the blue back is one of the best colors.

Have you thought about throwing a couple of Uncle Larry's in the tackle box?
