SAILBOAT VALUE??? HELP FAST!!

Hello, A guy wants to sell me a sailboat. I need to know roughly how much its worth. Here is all the info - <br /><br />Brand: Ocean Yacht<br />Model:Islander 17'<br />Trailer: Highlander single axle<br /><br />boat year: 1976 - its in very good shape, with new trolling motor, new battery, new tires, alot of new stuff... let me know if you have an idea of value. thanks

Off-the-hip shot here-- considering age of boat, and the market:<br />Between a thousand and fifteen hundred- unless it's needing serious repairs.

You have to take into consideration the shape of the boat as well. Probably 60-70% of the value of a sailboat is cosmetic. Do the seals around the hatches leak? is the fiberglass cracked anywhere? Is is an inboard engine? has it had water damage or fire damage in the past? are the lines and sails in good shape? Basically, has it been taken good care of and problems fixed thoroughly. <br />Features like autohelm, rolling furling ect. rarely up the value of a boat considerably unless you find someone requesting those features. Check the pricing web site, and judge on your own if your boat is worth more. After you get a ballpark estimate, the rest is how much is the boat worth to you?<br />Good luck with the sale,

There are all sorts of boats similar to that on the market for $1000 or so. The main thing really with these boats is the age and condition of the sails. The rest of the boat can be pretty easily refurbed if needed. Sails are expensive.
