Safety Course Class/Online

I've been looking to get into a safety course even before we buy a boat, sadly in Washington State we are split in two and most the courses are on the other side. There appear to be a number of face to face classes and online self-study/exam programs. WA State is phasing in testing for all boaters.

I'm curious if most folks have just gone through the online or did you go to the face to face classes? Any thoughts?

i live in Pa but i did the online course. worked great for me because you can do it at your own pace.

i did it online, it was pretty darn easy. if you want to learn alot, go to a physical course, if you just want to be legal quickly, do it online.

Did both.

Learned a lottttttt more in the brick and morter class.

The online is a good primer, but taking a once-a-week course over 6 weeks is much better. Our class was given by the U.S. Power Squadron, and there were different instructors each week. Got to ask a lot of questions and hear tons of stories based on personal experiences.

NJ doesnt have an acceptable online course...has to be face to face. Although I think they might be changing that to an online course with a face to face test? thought I heard that at a boat show last fall. anyway its good you are looking at either.

Thanks for the feedback and comments, I went a head and took the online course and passed (97%) so I'll pick up a face to face course when it becomes available. I've heard they offer them more in the Spring and early Summer month around here.
