Is it possible to be in safe mode RPM reduction without a visual or audible alarm? Reading through these forums for hours I have seen so many posts where people say it is impossible.

On my 1998 50ERJW there are 2 thermal switches. One goes into the CDI on pink wire. This also goes to warning lamp/buzzer. The second thermal switch is on the orange wires and goes directly into the CDI. This does not tie into the warning system.

What does the second thermal switch do and can it put the motor into rpm reduction?

I believe the second one with O wire is for telling CDI the motor has warmed up

I would test the alarm system to make sure it functions as it should

you may want to tell us what is happening to see if we can help

I do have a separate thread with my issues, I just had the specific question about what could turn on rpm reduction and what the sensor on O wire to CDI was used for.

I have verified that that both the oil level sensor and lower temp sensor are working and also that they set off the alarm buzzer. Motor just doesn't act any different than it does with the alarm on or off.
