I don't understand how a prisoner has a choice in whether he shows up to court or not.

Re: Sadam boycott's his own trial

Saddam is simply continuing his ways- if all the propaganda we hear now is true and he did not have any WMD's, why did he still defy the U.N. and the inspectors and us and get his butt kicked? Because he's either delusional, insane or so self-absorbed that he can't comprehend the situation. I tend to believe that he is such an egomaniac that he simply can't accept that he isn't in charge now. I also think that even he did not have any nuclear capabilities, he thought he did. He thought he was the baddest out there.

The man is the true poster child for the death penalty.

UFM82

They should have shot him when they found him......We targeted him with million dollar smartbombs that my great grand children will have to pay for & missed .....Why couldn't we spare a couple bucks for a few .223's?. We wouldn't have had to waste the manpower to guard him all this time....JK

I agree... why are we putting up with this?! If this was an american court he would be held in contempt... Why don't they muzzle that freak?

Sean

Again, he is a prisoner!! He is under SOMEONES control. How can you not force him to attend his trial? The way I see it you tell him he attends on his own accord, and under his own power, or he attends by any means needed to get him there. The travel choice is his, but he will attend. Hog tied and gagged if need be. It would only take one such assisted appearance to cure his contemptibility.

My feeling exactly, he also should be in bright orange prison attire.

The thing is he's not our prisoner. He's under iraqi control and being tried under iraqi law. Apparently under iraqi law he does not have to be present if he doesn't want to.

He IS the Iraqi law.... I'm putting my bet that he walks on this, he has more power than we think.

Forcing him into the courtroom would constitute torture to some.
