Ahoy! I need your expertise. On my 6 time out this season ,as was waiting to dock to leave. I lost all power to engine and gauges. I was in forward trolling very slow and it died. When I turn key ....nothing happens. I only have power to raise and lower prop. I also have power to captain's choice exhaust elbows. But wont start or even crank. I had recently adjusted forward shift cable but not reverse and got it dialed in perfect. It is a 1995 5.7 350 mercruiser i/o. Batteries are good. Ground seems fine. I ordered a new nuetral safety switch but when I tried to bipass that switch.....no change. I need some advice on possible solutions
thank you in advance for your time. Please help get me back on the water

First check the 50 amp breaker on the motor
Next at the key switch there is a Red/Purple wire. Follow this wire to a inline 20amp fuse, see if its blown.

Next your going to need a voltmeter or at least a test light
On the starter post look for a small square plastic and metal item. Check to voltage on the starter post and the smaller terminal with other wires on it

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Another culprit to add to AD's list is checkin' the big cannon plug, where the motor's wirin' harness meets the hull's wirin' harness,....

Corrosion in there can raise 'ell with ya,....
