Your serial number is a bit to old to be picked up on a computer search to retrieve detailed engine info....So with that you'll have to provide as much engine info as you know/can to use the serial number for a engine year model and parts catalog search.

I suspect your engine to be in the mid 70's possibly near the same age as the boat itself? The engine type info we're looking for as an example would be 140 GM 181 I/L4 (inline)

The boat is a 1976 Cruiser Barnegat 22’ cabin cruiser
the motor I’m guessing is the same year, it’s a 1976 Ford 302, 5.0L V8, the parts I’m looking for on this motor is, rebuilg Kit for carburetor, and the previous owner removed the mechanical fuel pump from off the motor and installed an electronic pump in its place (unsure why) I’m also looking for information on testing the “shift interupter switch” and if needed a replacement for it, I see them used on eBay but again I’d like to have all the information on the motor verified.

thank you for your response!!!

1976 looks right judging by the serial number ranges found on some charts.

Being a stern dive setup, The following ought to be your engine parts, 888 (2 BBL.) FORD 302 V-8 1971-1977

And here should be your drive parts if all seems close to original, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/888-1971-1977-3106717-and-up

The OEM engine service manual needed for your engine manual will be number 2 from merc....It should help with your shift type questions.http://www.boatinfo.no/lib/mercruiser/manuals/mercruiser2.html#/54
