well, here's what was stareing me in the face.

rusty ujoints...... and i suppose rusty grease on the shift slide...

wonder how the water got in.....typical question huh? kinda close inspection hasn't revealed the point of intrusion.....maybe i need to look harder.....where? or is it even relivent as to where?

since i don't know the history of the boat, i suppose i should do it all?

ujoint bellows, shiftcable and bellows, maybe shift shaft seals, inspect the ft. of the drive ft. seal for rust, when i get there.....oh, and guess what else feels poorly.....the gimble brg. ya can feel it so i guess it aint to smooth. so guess i'm up for one of thems too.......anything i'm missing as to what to go after?

It don't look the bad to me? plenty of grease on the u-joints? minor rust, Jeez, that little could be from a little condensation. I'm sure they heat up when used, & cool down quickly when off, under water. If it's not a new boat, I'm sure a little rust is expected.

True, but the rust is between the caps and the cross piece (needle bearings), and the grease should be IN the ujoints and gimbal bearing, not ON them.

Yea, I wouldn't touch it now either.
Just wait till it 90? outside and you have it in the water on the first day of the July 4th 3 day weekend when it starts really making noise.
Then you will have 3 days of nice weather to fix it. :)

Only bleedin a little????
Get busy slacker, that's only a 4 to 6 hour job, and it better be asolutely perfect in every way, and your bow light better not stop working.
Oooops, sorry, wrong rant............
But you really do need to pick it up a bit and be done before the weekend :D
