I have an older Honda BF100 on my sailboat on which the flywheel would not turn. After going through a bit of trouble to obtain the proper tools (a GM steering wheel puller and a cheap Sears strap wrench) I have managed to get the flywheel off the engine and confirmed that there is a lot of rust between the magnets and the coils that are I assume the alternator and the ignition coil. What is the proper way to clean this off? There is some sort of structure (wires/coils) on the flywheel magents so I don't want to use a steel brush just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this.
