Running problems
I have a 1987 Yamaha 70HP outboard. Use it on average of 3 times a week. For the last 1 1/2 years I have a sporadic problem with gas. It will start, but not idle well nor accelerate. If I remove the filter, dump it out, put it back together and start it, then it usually runs normally. I thought possibly air leak, so I have completely taken the sediment bulb off, and installed an automotive style filter in it's place. Worked fine for 3 trips, now today back to it's old tricks. Removed filter, replaced original sediment bulb, no help. Took filter and sediment bulb both off and connected hose directly to motor - no help. Switched fuel tanks - didn't help. <br /> Really don't think it's fuel pump, since it runs normally most of the time.<br /> To make matters even worse, it seems like there is no repair shops within 50 miles that work on Yamaha.<br /> Wide open to suggestions. <br /> Oh, and also checked to make sure there was no water in tanks.
