Have had vro Johnson and a Merc in the past, ran them intact, trusted them.

Now looking at a 2001 Ficht 75 hp v-4.

If I were to chance it, I would like to run it on premix, given their history.
This would save a complete engine meltdown it the injector fails.

Anyone else doing this?

Is the 2001 75 a motor to stay away from?

I know the injector, and the fuel pump are insanely expensive to replace. What are the chances it will just give out after making it 10 years?

Is it worth the gamble?

opinions?

Absolutely NO, Roscoe. The FICHT system is direct injection of fuel into the cylinder. Oil is supplied independently to the crankcase.

If you premixed and tried to run it (and the ECU permitted it to start) there would be a race to see if the injectors would clog up before the rods came out the side of the crankcase. I would vote for the rods.

I think he's confusing it with a VRO and removing the pump.

Thanks JB and samo.

I know almost nothing about the Ficht engines, obviously.

This spotless engine has been on Craigslist for a long time, at a very good price, looks like everyone is being wary.

If the mtr was built by OMC stay away from it. If it has the BRP stamp on it, it might be okay. No mixing oil and gas. You have to use the oiling system the mtr came with. And yes, the parts are expensive for the mtr.
