Kinda depends what you have, I suppose. But generally no. That harness also carries the starting current to the starter. However if you jump the solenoid with the harness disconnected, that should eliminate the kill circuit. Just be aware that if it starts, you have nothing to shut it off. Of course if you have battery ignition, we have a different ballgame. :eek:

Hi Dale<br />If you are refering to your 1976 85hp. The answer is no. You will have to jump the starter motor directly from a Batt, using jumper cables. Walker suggested this in a previous post. Also as Walker noted, if the motor does start using this procedure you will not be able to shut the motor off by conventional means. If I were you I would remove all spark plugs and ground them to the block for this test. This way you could see spark, and no chance of the motor starting.
