Hi
I am looking to purchase a Rule tounament series Livewell pump from the US and have it sent it to the UK.
The pump is designed to work below the waterline through the hull and to draw sea water through the hull and then on through an outlet tube to the Livewell.
I intend to fit the pump through the side of a portable container in the boat about 24" from the water level. My aim is to attach a tube from the inlet direct to the sea to draw water to the pump in the Livewell.
Will I have trouble drawing the water up to the pump?
Do you have any ideas of how I could achieve this?
I look forward to hearing from anyone who could offer some advice
Regards

Re: Rule Portable Livewell

I just used a cheap simple no frills bilge pump, attached it to my transducer mount with nylon ties, it pumps water no problem up and into my homemade cooler livewell, which has an overflow about 8" from the top, the overflow gets piped into my wet well and goes right back out into the lake, when not in use the power gets disconnected for I don't want to accidently sink my boat with a reverse acting bilge pump.

Your plan will not work. These pumps are not self-priming and will not draw water to that height. The inlet MUST be below the water line.
