Rude 9.5 tank size

My buddy gave me his old Evinrude 9.5...Bought a 3 gallon tank for it...How much running around can I expect to get out of this estimate?...Thinking maybe I should have got the 6 gallon but was trying to keep it compact...

Thanks...Another question..When installing the tank fitting,should I use something on the threads like Teflon?...Reason I ask is today I went in my garage and noticed the tank had somehow leaked just sitting there...It was stored only half full but not vented and it looks like it came out around the fitting..Hmm...

You can use Teflon tape, be be careful and neat, so nothing gets into the tank or fuel lines. I keep the vent open on the tank, unless I'm moving it around. The darn thing will blow up like a balloon if it's real hot outside and the vent's closed.

Gotcha..Yea,it was kinda warm here yesterday and when I open the vent it made the swoosh sound releasing pressure..
