2000 Bayliner I/O 5.0 Mercruiser
Took boat out and ran it for an hour or so.
As I slowed down smoke was rolling from the engine compartment. Apparently the rubber exhaust pipe on the exit side of riser was burning up. i cut it open but never saw flames but used fire extinguisher anyway.
The riser on that side was definitely hotter than the other side.
Engine temp was fine at 175 degrees.
Once it got towed back in. I test started it and it started up fine.
No water in oil engine
That's when I noticed the missing plug on the top of the exhaust manifold.
Could that have been the problem all along? Water was definitely coming out of it.
I have uploaded both sides of engine for reference
Any suggestions/ help would be appreciated.
