Does Merc use such a thing? A dampened bonded rubber coupler with a Ford crank bolt pattern. I'm thinking about modifying an OMC 800 direct splined coupler to a dampened one. Need to be able to find one so I can see if it would work.

Also, what would be the correct term for the part. I did an internet search and came up with all kinds of hose couplers, etc.

Bondo, I just took my 29 y/o OMC, your favorite outdrive, down to the Guru for an inspection. He said it was in excellent shape except for a couple of the shaft splines that take a hammering, at idle, due to the lack of a rubber coupler.

Sooooooo, as I am spending so much time and effort on renovating my boat, I figure I'll have to hand it down to one of my kids. I want every thing in the outdrive to outlast it's first life.
