Not sure if I posted this in the proper forum under this new format...but I hope I can find help!!

I have a 1986 115 Yamaha, and just purchased a new Stiletto ss prop-19". When installed the rpm's @ WOT were only 4800 or so. After the first sea trial of the new prop I was instructed to raise the engine height on the transom, which I did. After a second sea trial my rpm's are still 4800-4900. Prior to this I was running at 5400-5500.

What can I do to raise my rpm's to their maximum level as well as the boats overall performance.

Initially with this new prop, I was looking to gain all around performance in speed, trimming bow, and hole shot.

Thanks in advance

Re: RPM's too low

In changing props, a lower pitch will give you better hole shot, a higher pitch better top speed.
You trade one for the other.

I would drop 2 or 3 inches in pitch. This should give you a better holeshot and allow the engine to achieve higher rpm's, and increase top speed a little.

Much better for your engine to have the engine reaching optimun rpm range.
