About how much drop in max rpm will there be from a light load to a heavy load in a pontoon boat. My boat with just me in it will run 5800rpm. The safe range for my motor is 5000 to 5500. Say from 1 to 6 passengers. Thanks.

RPM drop is not as predictable as we like. If you are concerned with maintaining WOT at max RPMS (Pretty gas costly) then a differant pitch prop is in order. Why not just load up the boat and see how it reacts before investing in a prop.

Bob

The boat is new and the dealer is willing to just exchange props. I will seldom have more than 4 people on board.

Mark, the dealer is doing alright by you...5800 [300 over max] with just you is ok..by the time you get the boat loaded the way you want to use it those 300 rpm's will dissappear....gear weight, a little crud on the toons, and the most important, air quality...right now we got horsepower air, cold an dry...in july you wont be making this power, an your rpms will drop even more.

Yea, I would stay with the prop that is on the toon. With one or two more persons, you will not overrev at WOT.
