Make sure if you do change lower unit lube that it is dedicated boat gear lube. Boat gear lube can deal with water better.
they seem to be an advertisement avenue for the manufactures. Big claims though.

boattest.com did a test on there engine oil in a chaparral with twin Volvo's and claimed the engine decibals were reduced by 3. they also claim increased in both top speed and mileage. they even claim the top RPM was increased by 150. I don't know if you can trust Boattest, they seem to be an advertisement avenue for the manufactures. Big claims though.

The ear is not very linear for sound pressure(and yes I understand decibels is also not linear). For sound to be perceievd by the human ear to be half the sound, would have to be closer to 10dB.3 dB is a 50% reduction.
Pretty much impossible. I agree, the letters "BS" seem appropriate.
