Lucas oil softened up my detriot locker, 75w140 and now nothing more than a bump when it hooks, it used to hit with a bang before.

That stuff is ridiculous.. My brother ran the engine oil in his Trans-Am once..
I told him the oil change people saw a sucker when u rolled up.. Still gotta change that stuff later so why not run what the manual says??

I use the quicksilver merc high performance.(pretty much what they had at wal-mart lol). Half the price and is really good stuff.. Also it comes in a tricked out color too..Blue..

I know a few go fast car guys, they swear by royal purple. I'm Mobil 1 in my road vehicles ($23/gallon@walmart) and straight Pennzoil old school 40W in the 88 Mercruiser 5.7, Mercruiser lower unit lube in the alpha 1. Make sure if you do change lower unit lube that it is dedicated boat gear lube. Boat gear lube can deal with water better.

boattest.com did a test on there engine oil in a chaparral with twin Volvo's and claimed the engine decibals were reduced by 3. they also claim increased in both top speed and mileage. they even claim the top RPM was increased by 150. I don't know if you can trust Boattest, they seem to be an advertisement avenue for the manufactures. Big claims though.

I wonder if they have an unconditional no questions asked money back guarantee if you're not happy with it?

We call that big BS here in Texas
Okay 3 decibles?? I fart louder than that...

It didn't make any thing faster.. Boat test gets paid by the manufactures.. They like every boat they test.. Then they have pay per view tests.. They make cash at both ends.. Genius..

3 dB is a 50% reduction.
Pretty much impossible. I agree, the letters "BS" seem appropriate.

The ear is not very linear for sound pressure(and yes I understand decibels is also not linear). For sound to be perceievd by the human ear to be half the sound, would have to be closer to 10dB.

Even if it was 3 dB, which I doubt, very unlikely the human ear could even detect the difference.
