hi boaters, last summer my 93 4 winns 5l efi with eec4 engine control got an internal cracked block.
i picked up a used block with a new edelbrock cam # 7122 in it. i transferred all parts to new block.
it runs fine but does not idle well and dies with out throttle turned up. this clears up if you increase the vacuum
but i have exhausted ways to do this and idle vac is 11 inches. is there any way to increase the vac
permanently and reliably? i expected it to be a little lumpy, not die out. it runs rich at idle,
smells like gas in exhaust.

any suggestions, thanks, gerry.

Re: rough idle

I agree on the cam comment above but I have to ask. Are you sure there are no vacum leaks. Intake manifold or a simple missing vacum hose.
