rough idle no power

having trouble with hole shot and idling. Pulled cover off carbs. and found the air silencer was missing could this cause my problem. ALSO MY gas bulb wouldn't pump tight, replaced. Compression test o.k. and also spark test o.k.

What do you mean the air silencer is missing? If you mean the inner air box - the XP / GTs don't have one.

took it over to boat mechanic he had another engine xp225 and it had one on it he said that mine should too.

sounds like carbs need cleaned... ever heard that before?

carbs have been cleaned , soaked and rebuilt. New jets. what else do i need to do?
