Rough Idle 1967 1100SS 110 H.P.

New owner of Mercury 110H.P., has a very rough idle,was sitting for a long time. Have change the distribitor(complete).Had to replace near all the wiring. Spark seems to be strong. Removed and cleaned the carbs. Any other ideas? Thanks

Do a compression check. Make sure its firing on all cylinders. You may also have to go back and reclean the carbs and put kits in them.

Just wanted to get back to you.Compression was good and so was the spark, however the carbs were another story. 2 of the floats were water logged,one of the idle tubes had a hair line crack along the length of it, and one of the intake needle valves was worn badly. Embarresed I did not see these the first time. New to this boating, and the first thing I found out is that, I know nothing about it!!! This forum is great,the brotherhood of boaters!
