I just bought a '91 Javelin 389TE w/150 Johnson. The boat looks like new. After we took the boat for a test drive we took the boat home and I was thinking about moving the Hot Foot further back but before I did I wanted to make sure it was nessary so I was pushing the pedal down and some how the whole pedal ripped out of the floor. So I looked at the owners manual and it said that the boat has wood in it.What would be a good way to fix this rotted wood?Should I just get a new floor put in?How much would that cost?

Re: Rotted Wood!

Without seeing how bad it is, (usually most wood rot is not a good thing...) it is hard to give you a definative response.

However, that said, rotted wood HAS to (or at least SHOULD) be replaced/repaired, as it is one of the KEY structural items making up your hull.

Should you choose to NOT go with wood, there is a product I've seen called "sea-cast" (I think that's the name), which is an epoxy material, which you buy in either 3 or 5 gal bucket sized cans. You mix up sort of like cement, then pour into either the voids you have created by removing the rotted wood, or forms you have made...

It is advertized as being stronger than wood, and just as importantly, won't rot again...

Good Luck, Obiwan
