If you use a rotozip to carve a pumpkin, you may want to do the pumpkin carving before you clean it out.. I had some problems 2 years ago. I found that some pumpkins are hard to handle once cleaned.. I was at the kids party and I cut out 20 pumpkins that nite. It took me only 15 minutes to cut tops out.. Then I got talked into carving out the pictures they drew out.. The RotoZip was great and the kids had fun watching me. I use the motor tool to do the finer highlighting.. The problem with doing this stuff is that the air from both tools blows some of the pumpkin at you, the floor, and whom ever is standing by.. I learned that it is safe to do it in the garage or outside..
Well I have to get ready for "Mason" party for the DeMaley Boys and girls tonite that is going on in town..
Thanks
Good luck

Skil Jigsaw with a fine cut blade. I thought I was the only wacko carving pumpkins with power tools.

Gotta hold the saw up about 1/2" above the pumpkin, not let the blade guard slide on the pumpkin.

Works like a charm. You can get pretty creative once you get the power tools out.

Clean it out inside and then use air pressure to carve it out.
Just hold the top away from you while doing this.

150lb of pressure will go thru it like a hot knife thru butter.

The roto zip is the way to go. I did my kids a pretty fancy face this year. I made my moms too. We did hers in stars. On the big stars I cut all the way through. On the smaller I put the guard all the way so it would only cut about 3/4 of an inch. Looks real good. The light still comes through, kinda like a flashlight does when you put your hand over it.
