Has anyone got a "Rope Well"? How is it made and how well does it work?

I have a bunch of nearly inaccessable room under my bow fairing, and have long considered installing a "Rope Deck Pipe" on the top and dumping my anchor rode in there. The area drains into the bilge, but there is no ventilation up there.

I don't know if I need to install some kind of container to keep the rope from snagging - or what

Any observations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I just dump mine through the pipe. It should come out the way it went in.

Re: Rope Wells - Construction?

I don't think I want to try that... I just spent about an hour pulling the seat and a divider board out to gain access to the space. There is a lot of rough fiberglass, screws from cleats and fittings, bow light wiring etc... up there. Way too much for me to take a chance the rope will get hung up.

I'd like to store at least 150-200' of 1/2" rope.
Any other ideas??? PLEASE

I think you answered your own question.
Or direct the rope through that area w/ a pipe & make a locker behind it.

Can't you mount some type of a plastic box underneat for it to all fall neatly into... then when you pull it out again it should not snag on anything?

A canvas bag mounted under the standpipe should do it.
