Rookie Striper fisherman on Lk Murray SC

Hi All,<br />I am an import from BC Can. where I have fished for salmon, trout,halibat and cod. I am a total rookie when it comes to fishing for stripers. I hear this time of year they school but they have not started yet which suprises the locals. Any advice on how or locations to fish would be appreciated.<br />Thanks<br />Dan

Well Danny Boy, They should be and I've been told that they are down by Cape Hatters and VA, but I live up here in Delaware and do to the weather they are still spotty around here and down the ocean some nice catches have been going on... They normally roll out of this area by now but are still around so this may effect U's down there!!!

Hey Dan29072 good to see someone from SC. on this forum besides me. I have a buddy that fishes Murray a lot and usually comes home with a crap load of stripers every time so I'll ask him next time I see him. I fish with herring in about 30 to 40 ft of water around the dam and up the cattahoochee river on lake Hartwell. But this won't help you for Murray. I usually spend most of my time fishing big trout on LAke Jocasee trolling and since I started I havn't gone anywhere else or done any fishing for striper. Nothing compares to pan fried Rainbow trout. And nothin I mean nothing compares to catching 8lb trout over a 30lb striper I don't care what anybody says.<br />

The only thing more fun than catching a 30 to 40 lb stripper is catching a shark.<br /><br />And as for dinner ummm...
