I just bought a dilapidated trailer. My original Dilly trailer never has fit my 15' Invader trihull. The broken dilly spring was enough to make me want something better instead of fixing it. I got this trailer real cheap because the crossbars were bent. I welded some 3 in. channel with corner braces in back and 2 in. in the middle. Now I must figure out what is needed to support the boat. Should the center rollers support weight all the time or are they just to prevent damage? What length and width boards should I use for a 15 ft. boat?

Cut n' Jump,

Bunks of about 6 feet in length would be sufficient. You can buy pre-cut, pre-carpeted bunks from places like Cabelas.

The "keel" rollers should not hold all of the weight. It's kind of a balancing act between the rollers and the bunks. If you put too much weight on the rollers they will develop flat spots.

yeah, i just did my trailer and I put most weight on the bunks and little on the rollers. YOu can play with the adjustment by getting a hydraulic car jack and then jacking up the bunks to your desired height. What I did was slap a whole bunch of clear valve grease on my bunks and now when I'm on the ramp. i dont even need to start it up to get it off the trailer. I just let the winch go and it literally flies off the bunks. That grease is good stuff. That is if you can find some clear vavle grease. If not find some white grease. That way it blend in with your white bottom. That grease works alot better than those teflon bunk slicks.

hope this helps. -- you should try the grease.

Just one question on the grease. What is it doing to the rivers and lakes?

Silicone spray works just as good and stays on the trailer bunks wich I never have to get more than a foot of them wet and I use the motor to drive the boat on the rest of the way, leave the motor running and hook the bow strap adn sinch, then walk back and unplug the fuel line and let it run out of fuel.

Piece of taco.

Craig :)
