Has any use roller rocker in there boat? Have a chance to pick up a set but they are kind of pricey. If so how did they work out? Any HP increase? Any drawbacks? Just don't want to waist money on replacing something that is doing the job now for no improvement. Thanks Mark

Re: Roller Rocker question

Your decreasing friction there, so it won't hurt anything....

Some manufacturers claim 15-40 horsepower just by bolting them on... I say "Bull-Puckey"... I'd say more like 5-10 at best on a "warmed up motor" with stock ratio... You might get 15HP at the top end with a higher than stock ratio... (1.6 vs 1.5 ect.)

Re: Roller Rocker question

Every little bit helps. I am leaning toward getting them. Done everything else that I can think off. Easy bolt on H/P is the best. I wish I could do nitrous but it doesn't last long enough and beats your motor to death so that bolt on will stay at the store.
Anyone else? Pro's, con's lets here it.

Get them. They reduce friction for some horsepower gain but they also eliminate the stock rockers tendency to 'scrub' the valve tip allowing your guides to last a little longer. At very least they're a better piece than the stock stamped rockers.

Re: Roller Rocker question

If you want any performance gain at all, research snappers suggestion. Changing the ratio on the intake valve may result in benefits if cam lift is a restriction. Otherwise, I think the biggest benefit will be a slight reduction in oil temp. The only reason I would ever recommend switching from the stamped piece is for stud clearance when running higher lift cams. I run roller lifters on my 454 mags.

BT
