Roller guide on install?

I have a pair of roller guide ons and a pair of bow assist roller guide ons... I was wondering when installing, should it be installed tight against the boat? Just touching it? or some room and if so, how much room in between the roller and side of the boat?

The trailer is an escort so it only has bunks and the bow stop... Boat has a v hull... Also when I purchased the boat, it was a bit stern heavy so I moved the bowstop up a feet which took care of the tail wagging... I didn't mess with the bunks... Was I suppose to re-adjust the bunks if I moved the boat up more on the trailer?

Thanks

Re: Roller guide on install?

moving forward is ok, moving back you have to adjust, so the transom is supported. i use just the PVC guide ons with only 1/2 inch clearance, as the pipe flexes, i also have put 2 self centering rollers (the last 2 cross members on the trailer) this centers the bow as i drive up the trailer. once the rollers center the boat it is just center the engine and drive up. here's a link

thanks for the info on that roller... I'll look into it... I messed up my roller guide on's last week, trashed now, so that self centering roller would be great.
