The rollers just o/b of the keel rollers have just about had it. The cross members on the trailer are 4 feet apart.
Considering converting to bunks but use the roller 12" wide brackets.
What do you think about drilling width way thru a 2 ft long, 2x12 board to receive the roller axle and fit between the bracket ears?
A pipe piece could be epoxied into the wood bore to form a jounal for the axle to better distribute the load.
The 2x6 bunks would span and rest flat on the 2x12's. This would allow me to salvage the exisitng brackets and make a low cost conversion. The bunks to board could use galvanized wood screws and epoxy to seal and glue.
May be a crazy idea and would like to take advantage of the savy on this site.
