Has anyone ever installed the rodsaver side mount rod and reel holders, cant find much about the specification and dimensions on these models to know if they are going to fit my application.Ive only got 7.5 inches from the casting deck to the top edge of the boat to fit 4 rods, but i dont know how much space is going to be in between each setup. If someone has some input or knows anything about these models please share.

Re: Rod Saver Side Mount Selection Help

I saw a pic of the smaller 8" model installed w 3 rods in a catalog (holds 4), the 2 holders are about 4 or 5"s above the deck/floor. It looks like the bottom reel would be laying on the deck if installed on 7.5" step up or flush w the deck. Looks like 3-4' between them and small pistolgrip 6' rods are in the holders

Re: Rod Saver Side Mount Selection Help

I have the 6 rod holder mounted in my jon boat.

I like the way they work and can easily stow 6 medium sized rods, but usually stow a surf rod and 2 saltwater rods. Mounting them vertical would work well by the way they are designed.

Rod saver says the 4 rod holder is 8" long, so that might fit your 7.5" mounting area. On my 6 rod holder, the mounting screw holes are 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" from the end of the holder,,, just measured it.
