Hey guys,

I've been out of fishing for a few years, but am going to try and get back involved. I use an ultra light Fennwick (5'1") and baby and I mean baby Shimano reel.

I'd like to get a bigger, say "medium" type set up for bass and maybe even walleye. I want to stick with a spinning reel and I don't have a lot of shopping options around where I live, so I do most everything out of Cabela's.

Anyone know of something in Cabela's that they'd reccomend? I'd like to stay on the somewhat "consevative" end of the price range...$75-$125 if that would do it???

Thanks!

Boy, this dates me, but I still use an old Mitchell 300 as a back-up rod/reel for steelhead and even salmon. Don't know if the new ones are as reliable, but they're so simple, how could they screw them up? Don't have the Cabela's catalog here @ work, but I think I saw them the last time I browsed. Where do you fish?

Then as soon as I posted the last mesg I got onto Cabela's site, and found the "pro-Mitchell 300X w/pole for $55. I'm not surprised you're confused....go to their spinning combo site and there are bazillions of choices. Good luck!

Thanks. I was planning on buying the new Mitchell 300 combo, but I heard some pretty negative comments about them, then saw how cheap they were (NOT that a low price =junk)

I fish mostly lakes in the Okanagon area with the ultr light stuff, but want to start fishing the Columbia.

THANKS
