Okay I need A few rod holders to use in my boat. Generally for trolling and baitfishing. I would like to know what brand /type of holder I should consider. I do have a scotty but dont like the fact you have so slide the rod forward befor removing the rod, Are they all like that? I know I did find on brand that you pull stait up and the rod holder opens but can not think of the brand.

I usually made my own when the ones on the boat weren't enough.

Lengths of 2" schedule 4 PVC. I screwed them to wood or strapped them with heavy tie wraps to whatever was handy. Cost less than a buck each.

Re: Rod Holder ?

Since 90% of my fishn is trolling I use Quick Draw rod holders. The Last thing you want when you get a solid hit is to have to fight to get your rod out of the holder.

A quick draw will allow you to do a second hookset and at the same time pull you rod out of the holder with ease.

You can usually find them from $10 up. I use a 360ht quick draw. Since I do alot of Musky huntn this works best for me. For Bass and other game fish you probably don't need that elaborate quick draw system. I have seen some at Wally world at reasonable pricing. Do some reasearch on quick draws and choose whats best for you..

I will also say that I searched I-Boats before I posted the above link and did not find what I think he wanted.

Say, friends,

I realize that you are trying to be helpful. That is what this BB is all about.

What you don't realize is that if you post a link or a URL to a competitor it has a negative effect on iboats in the marketplace, even when the item you are suggesting is not offered by iboats.

There is no harm done if you simply suggest that a poster check out a particular competitor without posting the link or URL.

So, if you do what Johnshan did with his BassPro suggestion, instead of what he did with the LLBean suggestion you still help the poster find a particular item and cause iboats no harm.

For guys looking for a wide variety of rod holders, here is iboats' listing. http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...41372321&*******=846754198&search_type=recent

Thanks, :)
