What size screws should I use to install flush mount rod holders? I picked up some #14 SS self taping marine screws, but after drilling the pilot hole I'm afraid of cracking the glass. If memory serves me correct I used a 3/16 bit as the pilot hole.

Size of the screw isn't the issue. The size of the pilot hole you drill before putting the screw in is what you have to get right. Is the underside accessible to allow use of nut and bolt with washers.
Killer handle by the way..................are you serious??????

Thanks Jeep. I can actually get underneath very easily, and was seriously considering using nuts and bolts. Looks like another trip back to the hardware store.

After you drill the hole, use a countersink to prevent cracking the gel coat before screwing into the fiberglass.
