Re: risers and manifolds

clean what? rust? No. If they are more that 4 years old in saltwater, replace them. Freshwater, you can go awhile. If you are talking about just cleaning the outside of them, naval jelly will clean rust streaks.

If they look corroded replace them. If they are weak from corrosion and fail you will get a load of water in you engine.

Risers and exhaust manifolds are like tires they only last so long. You can run them till you have a blow out or you replaced them befor you crash you rig.

Amen Vinney...

My port exhaust manifold had an internal leak...allowed water into the engine. Result? Engine was toast. Wish I wouldn't have been such a tight wad...a buddy of mine suggested two years earlier I replace them as they were 12 years old. Guess I shoulda listened...

Walt

Manifolds and risers? When in doubt replace them with new. If you want to save money buy 'em aftermarket.
