So today I installed the manifold on the Gen VI 7.4 Liter project Sea Ray engine (see thread in Signature) and am ready to install the 3" risers and elbows and want to make sure I use the correct gaskets. This is a raw water cooled engine with standard cooling there is only a water hose going to the bottom of the manifold.

It is my understanding and I am hoping someone here can confirm that with one hose to only the bottom of the manifold to use full flow gaskets and with 2 hoses 1 on bottom and 1 to the elbow use restricted gaskets. If this is true then I need full flow gaskets between both the manifold and rider and riser to elbow. I was told this after I did my test run a few years ago with restricted gaskets. There seems to be only vague info on this in the manuals but I am going to look again.

As always any advice is greatly appreciated.

I wanted to add that the Manifolds/risers/elbows that came off the engine that was in the boat had restricted gasket between the Man/riser and free flow between riser/elbow, but it also had hoses going to the elbows. One other thing that is confusing is the manual shows restricted but also show hose fitting on elbow. Merc part diagrams show one restricted and on free flow. Was I give wrong info and should just follow the diagrams

this is my current set up

this was in the boat
