I was saddened this morning to learn of the passing of R&B great, Teddy Pendergrass. With so many great artists, in so many styles of music over the years, I admit that I had forgotten exactly which of the tunes that we all listened to, were his. Five minutes on youtube cured that and I was suddenly remembering songs like "Love TKO."

As I listened to Teddy's smooth voice and a few of the ballads he sang so well, I was reminded of Luther Vandross, another recently lost great. In fact, I even wonder how much of an influence Teddy was on Luther as a singer. Regardless, they were both great and are missed.

RIP Teddy and thanks for all of the great music!

Re: RIP Teddy

While my family is primarily from Rhode Island, we lived on the "Main Line," outside of Philly, for awhile. I read that Teddy died in Bryn Mawr hospital, which I remember, because my grand-dad spent some time there one winter. I also remember going to a little lunch joint behind the hospital to get Philly Cheesesteaks - they were "killer!"

Funny how these things seem important when someone dies. It's sort of a way to relate to a person that we didn't know personally, I guess.
