Rino 120 GPS and Hand held radio

hello all. like to know if anyone using this until for distress call? GPS and Radio in one. thanks

Hi boxer. If you mean a distress call from the water those rhino radios are not marine frequency radios. If you're on the water, no one will hear you unless they have a similar radio. They will transmit GPS coordinates, but only to another rhino unit. They are very similar to the handheld motorola radios you see at Wal*Mart and the like with a GPS built in.

I agree with RAT<br />They are in the GMRS services not the VHF Marine band and have no way to talk with the Coast Guard.<br />Also the range is very limited. You may be able to talk to some kid playing with radios if your are lucky.

Wow that is a lot in a hand held radio. Range is very limited but at least you are on the right marine band. If it did not come with one I would suggest a 12 volt power adapter. Also if you want to get about 8 times the power out you might want to get a fixed 6 db gain antenna and a adapter to connect coax to your antenna output.
