revs stuck on rinker 192

hi
i have a 2005 rinker 192 with volvo penta 4.3 ,just started her for the first time since she was winterized and the revs are stuck in high postion ,
and the throttle feels a bit slack likes it is not operating the cable,
does any one know what could have caused this and if it would have done any damage to the engine starting in high revs like that ,i did cut the engine straight away though .

Go look at the engine and see if the cable is attached to the carb linkage.

yeah ive done that ,it is connected ,it moves back and forwards when the throttle is operated ,but only at the last quarter of throttle ?

Can you post a picture of the side of the carb where the linkage hooks onto the carb?

i cant tonight,but i will tommorrow,do u think it has something to do with the linkage? also do you think it could have damaged the engine starting like that? am just a bit cocerned

Look at the linkage on the carb. There should be 2 pins that the cable could be on. You should have the cable on the upper pin. Is it? Did you have someone winterize the boat?

yes i had it winterized at a marine dealer

They probably took the linkage loose so they could operate the trottle while putting in the fogging oil. Then when they hooked it back up they put it on the wrong one. No way of testing since the engine is winterized and can't be restarted.

Disconnect the cable and see if the carb will go to idle position with the throttle plates closed (NOT the choke plate, the throttle plates)
Then see if you can move the cable from the carb end back and forth.

i will have to check this in the morning its too dark now,do you think the engine will be okay with starting straight up in high revs? just worried i may have caused damage

Have no idea, and guessing won't help. Get the throttle fixed start it up and find out.

took it to the marine dealer today who winterized it,they said throttle cable is bent, i dont know how thats happened they were the last to use it, it was perfect when i took it in.

What else did they say when are they gonna put a new one on at their expense? They would have seen it and wrote it up when they winterized the boat no?

This is one of the reasons some of us do our own work.
