Reverse not working

Hi, I have a 84 Sunrunner with a 120 Mercruiser. I had the lower unit serviced, by a friend and now the reverse doesn't work. He told me I need a new reverse cable, but somone :confused: lse told me about something not right in the lower unit. Can anyone help me? Please.....Thanks, Becky

Did they remove the lower unit to service it. If so they probably didn't get the shifter foot from the lower unit into the upper units shoe. While the shifter is in forward position, the foot and shoe should point forward. If not, then they got the foot out of alignment.

Is there anyway you can explain that to me and how I can check it? Cause I think thats the problem,but I don't know alot about fixing m boat...........Thanks,Becky
