reverse gear problem

i have a volvo penta bb 225 b inboard engine with a ms3b reverse gear
1.5 to 1 reduction that slips when going into forward.i can not find parts for this gear.marine parts dealers said that parts are obsolete for this gear.

Not sure which "marine parts dealers" you are referring to, but a Volvo Penta dealer can still get you parts for that transmission. The part that is probably slipping (the shift cone) is the same one used in the outdrives.
