Reverse control makes boat go forward

I just had a larger rebuilt outboard put on my boat. Everything was fine the first couple days I used the boat, but today when I was docking I noticed that when I engage reverse, the boat goes forward. When I engage forward it goes forward as it should. I turned the boat on and off several times, but still when I engage reverse the boat still goes forward. I have to assume that it is probably something very minor and I?m going to disassemble the controls tomorrow and see if it is something I can adjust. If it looks too complicated or if I can?t fix it I?ll take it back to the shop on Monday. Any had this happen before? If so any input would be appreciated. The motor is a 40 HP Tohatsu and it is remote.

Something disconnected somewhere or your clutch has jammed itself into forward gear.
