rev up to get in foward gear

just went out to try ot 1988 50hp force to see if over heat problem was fixed and now another problem, did,nt seem to over heat anymore but i got have to rev up eng. before it will kick in gear and at idle speed it will kick out of gear, oh on over heat, buzzer dont go off anymoe runs good but seems like a lot of steam out of exsaut is this a force thing?

By fixing the overheat problem was this done by replacing the impeller? If so chances are you did not connect the shift shaft correctly. Do a search on force lower unit removal and maybe you can find something there to help you.
