I have the SureShade on my boat. Original equipment.

My sample size of 1 is that they are a bit finicky. The motors are run by a controller. The controller on my boat was already replaced by the PO.

If you extend the shade it can be a head knocker as folks are entering the cockpit area from the stern.

Good to know, thanks
Maybe the manual ones would be less of an issue

Went to the guy who will be making the enclosure yesterday to discuss. Kind of getting to the point need to have the boat to really decide what will work best. Had some great news Friday, the boat should be done at the factory at the end of February

Not to be a naysayer, but a "shade" like that would not fit my requirements.

We boated in the sun for many years. Then, after our firstborn the wife found out she could not sit in the sun anymore. Years later and when basil cell took over it became more mandatory.

We boated with convertible tops for years and years. No problem. In the last 5 years we changed boats and went to a bimini. Problem.

Our routine is to anchor for a part of the day. If the sun is at high noon, the bimini works. After noon, with the canvas up so high, the sun comes in the side. Non starter. <My guess is that the high retractable shade will provide minimal, if any, shading.

I solved the problem by designing my own "shade". It mounts to the side of the bimini. Either side, or front or back, as the direction of the sun dictates. The fabric matches the bimini.

Obviously, if shading while on plane is the object, this would not be ideal.

We do similar, thanks for posting
When water is warm enough we go out after noon so sun is at angle. Go to coves so we can float under shade trees with hats

When water is to cold, this is when we need shade. We have a large black poly screen with 1/4 size holes, somw what like yours. Kind of like ones used to put over dog kennels, it allows air to come thru but blocks 90% of the sun. Use small bungee cords to strap around part of the bimini

Buddy has same boat name on his boat
